Down by the River!

Today for my ornithology class we went down by the Logan River that runs right a long side the golf course looking for birds!! There we saw Song Sparrows, American Robins, Black-capped Chickadees, American Goldfinch (the one in the picture), Downy Woodpeckers, Wood Ducks, Mandarin Ducks (Both ducks are descendants from escapes from the Willow Park Zoo), Northern Flickers, and Ring-necked Pheasants. This coming Thursday is our bird-a-thon. Thats when you have teams and a set limit of time, and the team that ID's the most species wins!!! There are big bird-a-thon competitions all over the place and people get really into it!!! Of course this one is for the class and the winner just gets extra credit but who doesn't want or need extra credit!!!!! It should be really really really fun!!!!!!!
